Major Oak Education was founded in the UK in 2018, building on the team’s international experience working in the transnational education space — particularly between the UK and China — as well as on projects in a range of other countries.

Prof. Nick Miles, OBE
EMERITUS PROFESSOR · FORMER PVC FOR GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT
Emeritus Professor Nick Miles OBE co-founded and leads Major Oak Education, a UK-China education company that advises universities and organisations, and runs the Acorn Academy campus engagement programmes for young learners. With over 40 years in higher education, he has been Provost of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, as well as, in the UK, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Senior Strategic Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor. He helped establish the Shanghai Nottingham Advanced Academy and the Guangdong Nottingham Advanced Finance Institute, and received the Ningbo Camellia Prize. An engineer and inventor in mineral processing and swirl pipe technology, he is now building new UK–China partnerships in education.
